How a lumpsum grows

A lumpsum is a single amount invested at once — a bonus, an inheritance, or savings you have built up. Because all of it starts compounding on day one, it can beat investing the same total slowly, if you invest at a reasonable valuation.

“In today’s money” divides the final figure by inflation over the same period, so you can compare it to prices you know. Projections assume a steady return; real markets go up and down.
